Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2013 Hair by TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu

During this Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week, it’s not just the clothes and styles i’m looking at for the upcoming seasons. It’s the hairstyles too! With leading hairstylists working their magic on the models, I was able to snag some great tips from hair stylist Jeanie Syfu with TRESemme for what to look for in the Spring. I loved the beachy waves look during the Rebecca Minkoff show. So…here is what I got so you can try it out.

Overall Look:  The look was beachy waves with polished ends

Hair Inspiration:  The 80’s feel of the collection called for a relaxed, chic style.  Hair had a matte texture and sleek ends to create a style that was casual, yet glamorous.

To complement Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2013 Collection, TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu created an undone, sophisticated style.

How-To Steps:

-Start by applying TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray and TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse throughout the hair and power dry with fingers for texture

-Smooth out ends with a Mason Pearson brush

-Take random sections of hair and using a 1” barrel curling iron, create curls through the mid-lengths, making sure to leave the ends out

-Use the flat iron to straighten ends and give the beachy texture a polished finish

-Spray lightly with TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo for a matte look

-Create a middle part with a comb and finish with a dime size amount of TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème to fingertips, raking through the hair from roots to ends

Tools:

Blow dryer

Curling irons 1” and 1 ¼” barrels

Flat iron

Mason Pearson brush

Clips

Teasing comb and brush

Spray bottle

Products:

-TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse

-TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Finishing Spray

-TRESemmé Smooth & Silky Anti-Frizz Secret Crème

-TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Grammy Award-Winning Producer, Timbaland, Launching Ultra Premium Sparkling Liqueur – LeSUTRA

I always love when celebrities come out with new products, alcohol being one of them. From Bethenny Frankel’s, Skinny Girl Margarita, to Sean “Diddy” Combs’s, Cîroc, a brand in alcohol is a powerful marketing tool for celebrities and bars/restaurants alike.

Timbaland is proud to be entering the realm of liquor entrepreneurs and launching his very own brand, LeSUTRA, a premium brand of sparkling liqueurs that will revolutionize the liqueur industry by satisfying a broad range of tastes.  As the first of its kind to launch in four exhilarating flavors: blueberry, strawberry, grape, and peach, LeSUTRA is paving the way to a new experience in the luxury spirits market by infusing sparkling liqueur with premium vodka for maximum flavor and mixability, offering a fresh alternative to traditional spirits and champagne.

Sounds delicious and my kind of cocktail! The best part is that you can sip it on the rocksor mix it in a cocktail. Served over ice in a rocks glass, chilled in a champagne flute, shaken with ice and served neat in a martini glass, LeSUTRA’s invigorating taste makes it a superior choice.

“Everything that I create is groundbreaking and LeSUTRA is no different,” says co-owner and LeSUTRA partner Timbaland. “With its innovative ingredients and design, I’m confident that we’ll gain a loyal and eclectic consumer base. My infectious style has helped produce career-defining hits for artists worldwide, and now I’m guaranteeing another hit with LeSUTRA. “

LeSUTRA Sparkling Liqueur will be launching in NY, DC, DE, MD, MI and FL in August 2012, with plans to quickly expand nationally by the end of 2013. Check them out at: Facebook.com/DrinkLeSutra, or visit www.drinklesutra.com and follow us on Twitter @DrinkLeSutra.

Eating Todd English’s Olives in New York City

With over a dozen restaurants, four cookbooks and a reputation for being one of the best celebrity chefs of our time, I am forever grateful that I finally had the chance to eat at Todd English’s well known restaurant, Olives, in New York City.

Besides the fact that I’m a huge fan of Todd English, all foodies should be, what really won me over was meeting him at the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival earlier this year. I got the chance to see him present a cooking demonstration, a duck meal to be exact, around 9am. Hey, when Todd English is cooking duck for you, its’ good at any time. His personality is catchy, humorous and passionate, which made me more excited to actually go to his restaurant and sample the menu items.

I always pass by Olives at the W Hotel at Union Square and love looking inside to see the trendy, upscale décor that is both inviting and very “Manhattan-ish” if you know what I mean.  I love “Manhattan-ish,” so I knew from the moment I walked in I would enjoy the atmosphere, which is half of the importance for a happy and comfortable dining experience. Sitting down at my booth I took a look around the dimly lit restaurant and got a good feel for the crowd of 20-somethings chattering over dinner and cocktails with House music filling the restaurant. So far, everything was remarkable and I couldn’t wait to dive into the menu.

One of my favorite things to do at restaurants that have unique  appetizers is to order a few of them, and go to town. So I did just that. I started with a fresh Yellowfin Tuna Tartare made in a cucumber salad with rock shrimp sesame dressing and white fish caviar. Next, I devoured a crispy Carpetbagger Oyster layered with beef carpaccio and truffle mashed potatoes making a really unique mix of flavors. With that I enjoyed a warm carmelized onion bread-basket with different olive spreads. Delicious! To top off the evening, my sweet tooth went with a Brick Oven Roasted Banana for dessert that consisted of butterscotch with salted caramel ice cream and graham shortbread crumble.

Will I go to Olives again? Absolutely. Going out to eat is more then just eating. When you enter a restaurant, it becomes an experience from the moment you walk in until the moment you leave. Todd English’s Olives was a very memorable experience from the hospitality, the atmosphere and the cuisine. I couldn’t ask for anything better and I thank Todd English and his wonderful staff for making my dining experience a true pleasure.

Best All Around Cruise Line

Between the endless amounts of food to the nonstop entertainment, cruises are one of the best forms of vacation in our day and age. What better feeling is there then being able to lock your wallet up in your room, go out on the ship and enjoy yourself? Depending on your cruising needs, each ship offers something different. Most have incorporated entertainment that is suitable for children and families, while others are better well known for boozing and cruising until the sun rises. So if it’s about that time to decide which cruise line to go on and you have no clue as to which one might be best for you, allow me to help you in deciding.

With my travel experience, I have adopted a strict and critical eye for immaculate rooms and restaurants, quality of food, impeccable customer service and a very large variety of actives to do while at sea. I always keep a heads up for how well staffed the cruise ship is, how knowledgeable they are of travelers needs and questions, how they present themselves and how they carry the brand of the cruise line. After sailing away on a countless number of cruise lines, i’ve come to realize the one that meets the highest standards and is always on it’s “A” game. That cruise line is without a doubt, Royal Caribbean.

Royal Caribbean currently has six ship classes (Oasis, Freedom, Voyager, Radiance, Vision and Sovereign), totaling 22 ships altogether. Every time I cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship everything I need in a cruise ship is there. It’s fun, but not to the point where you feel like you’re in a college frat house. It’s clean. The food is delicious and there is a wonderful variety. There are so many fun activities to do on the ships like rock climbing, zip lining, ice skating, surf simulators, mini golf, inline skating and so much more. If you’re looking to just relax you can find full service day spas and adult areas that are peaceful and quiet. There is shopping on board, dance classes, wine tastings, broadway type shows and nightlife entertainment. The cruise line keeps it’s passengers well informed of on-board activities, as well as what to do once you hit the shore. All in all, the Royal Caribbean is definitely the best all around cruise line for families, singles, young adults and seniors. If you’re looking to go on a summer or fall cruise, check out Royal Caribbean to book your cruise today!

Going to the Rodeo? Take a look around!

Cowboys, cattle, country….who doesn’t love a rodeo?

Actually, not that Rodeo! I’m talking about the palm trees, Bentleys, and endless rows of exquisite shopping. Rodeo Dr., in Beverly Hills, CA, of course! I’ve come across quite a few people in my young 23 years and have seen too many that have never walked down this dazzling row of fabulousness.

It’s not everyday that you can see (or afford)  a day of shopping on Rodeo, so I went along with my adventure to bring the experience to you!  In 40 seconds you will see what it’s all about on the world-famous shopping realm. Enjoy, and see you on the strip!

Adventures to the Hollywood Sign

Ahhh, the Hollywood hills!  I love the energy that comes naturally from a hike up through the mountains of Los Angeles. More specifically, Bronson Canyon, which leads right to the most incredible view of the world famous Hollywood sign. If you’re not a fan of hiking or can’t imagine why one would want to climb up a mountain just to get a good photo of sign, you should check out the video below! The feeling of making it to the top, with the Hollywood sign so close you can almost touch it and the 360 degree view of Southern California, you will definitely understand why it’s worth it! I guarantee you will have a Rocky Balboa moment. So if you’re heading out to SoCal anytime soon and looking for a good hike for sightseeing, check out this trail at Bronson Canyon. Enjoy!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013: Miami, FL (Video)

Here we are again! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is gracing their presence on my blog yet again, but I can’t wait to post each and every time. I do love seeing the Spring, Fall and Winter fashion trends on the runways from all over the world, but there is nothing better than the sexiness and excitement of MB Fashion Week Swim in South Beach Miami.

Hot bikinis, delicious martinis, sunshine and sandy beaches. From July 19th-23rd the world’s greatest swimsuit designers will be showcasing their 2013 collections right in sunny south Florida. I was so excited to cover the runway shows, events, and meet the designers last year and I am absolutely thrilled to be able to do it again this year. Designers this year include some of my favorites such as, BCBG SwimwearBeach BunnyCrystal Jin, Luli FamaWhite SandsMara Hoffman Swim, Wildfox and many more.  Get ready South Beach, we’re coming back!

Hiking the Best of Malibu: Circle X Ranch

With an aching body, hunger, thirst, and a strenuous 2 hours hike up one of Malibu’s most beautiful trails, Circle X Ranch, our destination was found at this rocky waterfall which was a perfect landing place to relax, reflect and rejuvenate before making our way back.

I love hiking and was truly impressed by the views and level of intensity that was necessary to complete for this hike. During the course of this 2 hour journey to reach our destination, that path wasn’t your normal “safe” zone with a path already made for you. Not to mention me swiping my legs across poison ivy, which flared up about a month later (watch out for that)!

If you’re in the Malibu area looking for a great hike, be sure to check out Circle X Ranch nestled right in the Malibu mountains.
